The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) is a federal law that was created to address the economic impact of the global pandemic. The U.S. Secretary of Education, in response to the CARES Act, has determined that financial resources will be made available to colleges and universities to provide grants to students for expenses related to disruptions to their educations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In accordance with recommendations from the U.S. Secretary of Education, Georgia State will distribute funds received through the CARES Act by prioritizing students with the greatest levels of financial need using established processes that the university has developed to distribute need-based institutional aid.
Once Georgia State receives the funding from the federal government the institution will work swiftly to identify eligible students and disburse funds to them. Funds will be sent via Bank Mobile using the refund selection that the student has made. Either paid the same day to their Bank Mobile Vibe Account or within 2-3 business days if direct deposit into a personal account.
Students that find themselves in need are still eligible to apply for additional resources through the Dean of Students office. The Georgia State Financial Hardship and Emergency Assistance supports students in overcoming unforeseen hardships that hinder their successful academic progress.
